The Enemy Rules This World, Jesus is Not of This World
The evil enemy is ruler of this world. Satan is constantly trying to kill, steal and destroy, he is constantly trying to keep us in sin and away from God. Jesus is not of this world.
Jesus spoke to false accusers
‘And He said to them, “You are from beneath; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world.”‘ (John 8:23)
At the last supper
“I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming, and he has nothing in Me.” (John 14:30)
Jesus tells of the Helper, the Holy Spirit, who Jesus sends after His ascension
“He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness and of judgment. Of sin, because they do not believe in Me, of righteousness because I go to My Father and you see Me no more; of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.” (John 16:8-11)
“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
‘But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age (satan) has blinded, who do not believe…’ 2 Corinthians 4:3-4
Jesus defeated satan, and death, and has overcome the world. When we have Jesus in our hearts and live for Him, we also defeat satan and overcome the world.
Before His crucifixion, when the governor Pilate (who thought Jesus was of no fault) told Jesus, “Your own nation and the chief priests have delivered You to me.”
‘Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here.”‘ (John 18:36)
After Jesus’ ascension, the apostle John, guided by the Holy Spirit, writing to Christians about false prophets and non-believers: ‘and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world. You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. They are of the world.’ (1 John 4:3-5)
